Our great friend Laszlo has helped so much in the last couple of years that it is impossible to say all that he has done. There is not much I can do aside from carving these days and so in return I've made this guitar for Laszlo to a theme he holds dear. Japanese Art and how their aesthetic grows from the Ocean wave. So the guitar starts at the top with the wave and carries it's motion through the whole piece.

This guitar started life as a cherry wood body that Dave Carl had started to build but gave me to work on a couple of years ago. I intended to keep this one but recently was asked to come up with a piece for a fellow and what I had began idea wise seemed proper for this fellow and so I started work on completing it. It is a theme of love and creation, family and completeness.

This guitar was the body of a Mexican built Stratocaster by Fender. I discovered after I'd finished it, that the body was seven different pieces of alder glued together. I carved it front first and even though I'd stripped it, I hadn't looked at the back until the end. Talk about grain fighting a wood carver! Yowza!.

This was brought to me as a badly marred guitar that somebody else had made. It had been sanded down with a disc sander to a fairly thin rendition of it's former self. However, the wood was hard rock maple and all turned out well but just barely as the guitar is pretty thin but tough enough.
